Wolf Gutscher – Chairman
From Chevron to Global Emerging Markets Advisors (GEM Advisors), Wolf Gutscher’s experience spans renewable energy, financial services, education and technology sectors. His global experience has brought valuable insight to countries, cities, communities and most recently to Larkspur–Corte Madera and Ross School Districts in California, where he has been responsible for leading their energy efficiency and solar initiatives.Read more about Wolf’s experience here.
Wolf‘s experience, which spans Energy, Financial Services, Education, and Technology sectors, began at Chevron in the Corporate Controllers office where he was Special Projects analyst responsible for publishing the Corporate Directors monthly Financial/Operating Data book. Following Graduate school, he spent over 15 years in senior positions at various financial institutions, including Wells Fargo, Morgan Stanley, and Citigroup. He served as both a credit and senior business development officer in San Francisco for Wells Fargo’s California Business Banking unit, spent six years with Morgan Stanley in London in Equity derivatives Sales/Structuring and Trading, and while at Citigroup in New York, he was a Senior Account officer in Energy, Metals and Mining, following many of these credits into Citibank’s Workout Group. Subsequently Wolf took a position in the Office of the Chairman, where as Manager of Venture Support, acting in the capacity of COO/CFO pro team, he led acquisition and assimilation of financial database companies Quadstar, Teradata, and Quotron into Citigroup’s Global Retail Bank.
During the past 15 years he has been, (as a founding principal) with Global Emerging Markets Advisors (GEM Advisors). During this period, Wolf has, amongst his dozen or so engagements consulted for the Malaysian Ministry of Education together with several Silicon Valley school superintendents on the deployment and role that Technology should/could play in Education for the Country’s entire complement (8,600+) of schools. He was also the first outside consultant brought in to aide in the Bechtel/World Bank financed startup, Infrastructure World (IW) that sought to harness the power of the Internet for the efficient development/financing of Global Infrastructure projects.
More recently Wolf has been involved in the Renewables sector; first in Washington State leading a cellulosic ethanol refinery project, then in Jamaica on Sugar Industry privatization, which sought to produce in addition to sugar, both ethanol and energy for their grid. Recently, Wolf has also filled a part-time role as Director of Operations and Sustainability for both Larkspur–Corte Madera and Ross School Districts in California, where he has been responsible for leading their energy efficiency and solar initiatives.
Wolf has an A.B. in Phil/ Psych from Harvard, and an MBA (Finance/Strategy) from UCLA’s Anderson Graduate School of Management. Wolf is a German citizen/US permanent resident living and working in Marin County and enjoys hiking and volleyball.

David Kunhardt – CEO
With over 30 years of executive level experience with such companies as NRG Energy, Solar Power Partners, RBC Apollo Equity Partners, Transamerica and AEGON USA Realty Advisors, David’s leadership has positioned him as a steward to carry out SolEd’s missions of bringing affordable solar and environmental education to school districts in California and beyond. David was VP of Structured Finance with Solar Power Partners starting in March 2008, and remained as Director of Finance with NRG Energy for a year after it acquired Solar Power Partners in November, 2011. He has been instrumental in originating and arranging $275 million in debt, tax equity and partnership finance for over 70 municipal, commercial, and university solar projects.
David has been engaged in community development and partnership debt and equity finance for 30 years, working in corporate, non-profit, and public sectors.
Prior to SPP, he served as a Director of RBC Apollo Equity Partners in the expansion of investor relationships. Before that, Mr. Kunhardt was Senior Vice President with Transamerica and AEGON USA Realty Advisors, leading a program for 10 years that reached over $1.7 billion in partnership investments. He served as President of the Affordable Housing Investors Council and sat on its Board of Governors, and represented Transamerica on the Board of San Francisco Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Kunhardt graduated from Middlebury College, cum laude and attended George Washington University’s Masters program in Urban and Regional Planning.

Ross Sullivan – CFO
With over 20 years of experience in the equipment leasing and structured finance industries, Ross is an expert at establishing and managing the financial infrastructure, controls, and reporting capabilities necessary to efficiently run structured project financing arrangements. Ross’s career in financial services started at Ford Motor Company’s U.S. Leasing subsidiary where he held a variety of management positions including Finance Manager of its Rail Services division and Pricing Manager of its Business Equipment Finance division. He was then a Co-Founder and the CFO of Flex Leasing Corporation, a freight railcar leasing and logistics business that he helped grow to over $400 million in assets before its successful sale. He then served as Head of Finance and Operations for Babcock & Brown’s Rail Management business where he played a lead role in arranging and then managing 15 structured railcar leasing portfolios totaling $1.7 Billion in assets.
Ross is an expert in establishing and managing the financial infrastructure necessary to efficiently run structured financial arrangements. He is also a coach for the Sir Francis Drake High School Track and Field Team and has coached 18 youth basketball and soccer teams.
Ross has a BSE degree in Operations Research and Financial Engineering from Princeton University and an MBA in Finance and International Business from Columbia University.
Eric Blomendale – COO
Eric has joined SolEd as its COO. Prior to this, he was with Sun Light & Power, where he was instrumental in building growth strategies for the firm as well as in providing oversight of sales and business development. Eric has been in the solar industry for the past 13 years, including seven years as the Director of Commercial Services at Southern Energy Management, where he oversaw the development of the company’s commercial division, and two years as president of Dakota Energy Solutions, a North Carolina-based company that provides turnkey solar services from conception to commissioning. Eric holds a B.A. degree from Boston College and a diploma in Renewable Energy Technologies from North Carolina State University.
